Pours black witha two-finger cream head. Decent retention and good lacing.
Very roasty nose, but needs more umph here. Chocolate, coffee, but mainly chocolate present here.
Lots of malt body, even for the style. Still very drinkable on a hotlanta day.

Very similar to the Max Black, with the burned brownies and smoke although there was more brownie and less burning and smoking. The flavor is more subdued, less sharp. It's also darker than the Black with smaller highlights that are just brown instead of ruby. That's topped by a fluffy light tan head that is slow to leave.

not my usual style but i loved this. the color is a dark chocolate with a medium off white head that has good retention. citrusy hop nose (you'd think you're smelling an American pale ale). chocolately/nutty start to citrusy finish then the chocolate malt finish seems to finish out the taste. mouthfeel was full but not overwhelmingly heavy. i have tried but never successfully made a porter with a citrusy hop. they have done it and done it remarkably well.
