Just in time for lent, Max Lagers satisfies a full calorie, flavorful and sustaining ale to finish off the season of sacrifice for those who prefer to drink rather than eat.

Deep copper and set in near bright clarity, Bocked & Loaded releases a thin but withstanding sheet of foam and a deeply savory malt scent of caramel, toast, toffee, coffee and pleasantly burnt pastry crust. Then as is malt sweetness layers on the tongue, much of that molasses, sorghum, caramel and cola flavors round into a sweet and savory early palate.

As the sweetness slowly relaxes on the middle palate, the more toasty nuances of coffee, bread crust, lightly smoky flavors rise above the grain sugars and usher in a mild hop balance of peppery woods, bark and light coffee bitterness. Plump with malt, the dark and strong lager hits all the savory buttons.

Full flavored but only medium bodied, the ale is deceptively moderate in body despite its bold taste. Finishing toasty-sweet and lingering with nutty cola and light coffee, the beer carries over into a medium-long aftertaste- just long enough to get us through Easter.
