On cask at Barley's Mini Real Ale Fest 2011.
Appearance
This beer isn't super dark. It's mostly shaded of red and brown. The edges let thought plenty of light. The head is short lived.
Aroma
Rich Belgian fruitness. Lots of fig and raisin. Its sweeter, but balanced out by a faint, grassy hopping. Some caramel and even a hint of sourdough bread.
Taste
A very solid example of a BSDA. A nice body of dark, over ripe fruits. Figs, raisins and black cherry. Plenty of brown sugar as well.
Mouthfeel
The body is on the fuller side of medium. This is a sweeter beer, but has a nice smoothness to it. Carbonation was appropriately low with only a little bit of prickliness.
Overall
One of the better beers at the fest. I wouldn't think twice about revisiting this one. I think a growler would suit me well.
