Draft at Smokehouse in snifter.

Served at 43 degrees and let warm to 50 degrees.

Poured dark reddish amber with an creamy off-white head that diminished slowly with good lacing.

Good complex sweet earthy malt and citrus aroma.

Medium body.

Good well balanced sweet malt and citrus flavor with a long finish with a small alcohol tone.

Very good complex brew.

Poured from the cask into a Belgian style glass due to the high gravity.

Appearance- Beer pulls a creamy reddish gold with a solid finger of foam over the top. Beer loos lively and carbonation lingers for quite a bit.

Smell- Deep thick roasty malts, not with burnt aspects but more caramel lingering. No hops at all and a bit of raisin on the nose.

Taste- Creamy, caramel, grainy, a bit of the cask mouthfeel, waitress chooses now to try to inform to me that there is a difference from a cask and a firkin. Maybe these waitresses need some better training. Warming, sticky and just a tad oaky.

Mouthfeel- Creamy, warming, medium on the tongue. Lightly sticky, medium carbonation, and grainy.

Drinkability- Warming, thick, strong, Nice but overly grainy and not very great for the swilling needs.

From the firkin at Barley's Mini RAF on March 27th. I think the cask softened this one a little too much, but this is still an excellent beer. Dark orange color with a minimal light beige head. Aroma of malt and alcohol, and maybe a little caramel. Flavor is a subdued blend of malt, toffee, and warming alcohol. I wish they had this available all year.

Okay, this was guest tap at Ale House 1. This beer was a lovely dark red amber color with a small amout of carbonation. It has a small off white head that left little lace, but no doubt to how it was poured by the bartender. An aroma of malt, caramel and a hint of the alcohol present. A flavor of malt and caramel with a warming presence of the alcohol. A slight wood taste maybe akin to astrigent was present in the finish. A good beer, but I still think I like the rare Glenlenny's Scotch Ale better. A nice new local beer for my 400th review seemed appropriate.
