Pours from the can with plenty of billowy off-white head, and leaves a better than average (for the style) bit of lacing behind. Note: excellent head retention. Pale golden/straw in color, a bit hazey, and with ample (even better than ample) visible carbonation. Nose is a bit corny, slightly metallic, slightly sour, but with plenty of grainy pale malt. No real hop presence to speak of. Also noteworthy are the hunks of yeast (?) floating in here . . . it looks like a Keller bier! Way off style if this were to be judged as a macro-style light lager, but the nose is compelling and the others I've had from this brewery were winners, so in the name of science I must drink this down. Very smooth initially, mildly sweet, and approaching medium bodied - much better than most light beers I can admit to having tried. Off flavors include a light yeasty, possibly bacterial funk and just a touch of tinnyness, almost "as if it had been in the can too long." Somewhat ale-like in its fruity esters (light notes of green apple and crab apple), and a bit bready. There's even an eager character to the alcohol here, and becomes evident toward the end of the palate. Minimal bitterness throughout. Medium dry in the finish, and with a lingering touch of biscuity malt. Good drinkability and not a bad "light" lager at all - I'll grab another six the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

This is quite an enjoyable light beer, to my surprise. It seems to have maybe lost a bit of luster after being poured into the growler, but it was still quite impressive for a light lager.
The beer poured into a pilsen glass to a clear and pale yellow color. The carbonation isn't as lively as it should be after being transferred from the growler, so the head doesn't build properly, and doesn't leave a lacing.
The smell is fresh and hoppy with a bit of a sweet malt aroma in the back. Doesn't taste like it contains rice or corn, but rather has that authentic german malt and yeast flavor with a light herbal hop in the end. No bitterness, and only a lightly sweet aftertaste. It's perfect for lawnmower beer.
Granted that this is a good example of a real light lager, I'd much rather drink one of the other house beers, or one of the various belgian beers on tap. Nonetheless, I could picture myself getting a refill of this in the future, but only on a lawn mowing day.
