I heard that the brewery was brewing up a seasonal beer for 4/20, so I decided to check it out since I can get growlers now, afterall. It is probably the most inoffensive beer I've ever seen or tasted. For the full-flavor seeking BA on vacation in Iowa City (yeah right), if this is made into a year round brew based on the apparant popular demand, I would recommend steering clear of it. That is not to say the beer was bad though, because it was waaaay to clean to be considered bad. I suppose that is quite a compliment considering how hard it is to brew such a clean beer without undesirable off-flavors.
The beer pours to a ultra clear, light lager yellow with a decent white head that recedes to a ring. Nothing too interesting to note. Smells of pale malt and malted wheat. Not much else to note. No hemp taste or aroma, but none expected.
Tastes like the most inoffensive filtered pale wheat ale I've ever tasted. Am I drinking a beer flavored water? Mouthfeel is extremely light as well, if not just slightly fizzy with a small hop bite in the finish. Has kind of a light honey taste, and another interesting malty taste, maybe from the hemp seeds. Very easy to drink a lot of this stuff, but not a perfect 5 in the category because I probably won't get a refill of this if it is ever available in the future (not interesting enough). For a light refresher I would highly recommend the Harvest Moon Belgian Wit instead of this, or even the house Pale Ale.
