This is a fairly decent attempt at an unfiltered hefeweizen. Served at the brewpub into a weizen glass. Pours to a really cloudy peachy color. Almost looks like a smoothy in the glass, particularly considering that there is very little head, which later receded to the point that the usual collar of foam that rings the top of the glass wasn't even there.

The smell is good. Fairly sweet with a huge banana ester. Not so much clove, however. The beer still held some promise at this point. The taste, on the other hand, seemed very one dimensional. The smoothie reference holds up, because this beer tasted like a blended banana with malt sugar. It was light and smooth and refreshing, but it seems to be lacking the subtle things that I enjoy about a true bavarian wheat beer. It just doesn't seem like I'm drinking beer is my main gripe, I suppose.

The body is nice. The beer really does look nice in all of its unfiltered glory, and it shows in the mouthfeel as well. Gets a bit cloyingly sweet after a while, but it is still a decent beer for a hot day.
