This beer was served in a tulip glass.

Appearance: The beer has a clear amber coloration. The head was a honey white coloration. The beer left rings of lacing on the glass.

Smell: The beer has a very big hoppy pine resiney and grapefruit citrus character. The beer has a bit of a lime character. The beer has a major caramel maltyness.

Taste: The beer is delivers on the smell. The beer is a major hop lovers beer. The hops are plenty bitter producing major lime, grapefruit and pine resin. The beer has a big ass caramel back bone. The alcohol brings major spicyness to the beer.

Mouthfeel/ Drinkability: This beer has back. The beer is full bodied. The beer has an unbalanced hop to malt profile but its good. The alcohol tends to decrease the beer drinkability overall; however, the beer is still majorly drinkable.

Note: I will definately stop off at Nodding Head Brewery next time I am in Philly. All of the beers I drank here where good.

Appears a dense, light toned amber with light amounts of CO2 rising. Small off white head quickly fades out. Tons of lacing is left all around the glass.
Smell...holy schneikes!! I thought 3C Extreme was hoppy? This has more than 2 times the hops! Can we say huge pine, citrus, and a skunk like marijuana-esque blast? Whew doggy!
Taste is of the same aromas with that Mary Jane all the way. This is such an extremely hoppy brew that it knifes the malt right in the heart and takes over.
Mouthfeel is chewy, sugary, sweet, with a hoppy bud blast. Wow.
ABV is evident in this but holy f'in shit! Do it. Do it.

I believe this was just added to the tap lineup at Nodding Head on June 1st or so. The beer menu describes it as..."More than meets the eye...let's call this one a triple IPA...lots of malt, lots of hops (more than twice as much as 3C Extreme) and lots of alcohol, approx 12% abv". Boy they were not lying in several respects.

The beer was served in a medium tulip glass and not a pint due to the high abv. The beer had a clear amber colored body with a thick fluffy tanish toned head that run up to the top of the glass. The aroma was a BIG beautiful floral hop bouquet but it was not overly piney. The taste is equally big, a timebomb of hops on the tongue which is balanced well with the malt character on the backend. There are citrus tones running around that also blend very well into the taste. After a few swigs of this fine brew, my waitress came by to see what I thought of it and she described it as an "angry beer" and I agree with her completely but in a good way. This beer stands up well with some other BIG double IPA's out there and it worth a try. Although the abv is high and the hops are equally big, the body is medium and suprisingly very drinkable.
