Appearance: Arrives at the bar with a clear golden color and a modest head that disappears quickly without leaving any lace

Smell: Like a subtle perfume, the lemongrass and ginger are present but not overwhelming

Taste: Biscuity up front, with a honey lemon element that is joined, mid-palate, by the ginger flavor; after the swallow, both ginger and lemongrass flavors linger, but the finish is otherwise crisp and clean

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with low to moderate carbonation

Drinkability: Other than the lack of carbonation, this is a refreshing and interesting summer beer

This beer was light golden like sunshine. It had a white fluffy head. It smelled lemony (not like cleaner though), a little sweet and gingery. The "fore" taste wa lemony and the aftertaste was ginger. This was a light beer, but not a thin beer.

An asian influenced blonde lager you say? Well. Okay. Pours a clear straw. White head. Odd nose. Ahh. I get it. Asian influenced. Lemongrass and ginger in the mix. Full flavor from it that rescues it from being just another boring ass lager. Feel is smooth on carbonation and better than average on the liquid. Overall the lemongrass and ginger make it quite an interesting brew. I like it.

Appearance: clear pale yellow in color with a 1/2" head that quickly fell to a spotty surface foam. A spot or two of lace developed.

Smell: ginger and grass are the lone aromas but they work out to be quite pleasant.

Taste: ginger is quite bold here. Lemon zest, grass, and a soft bitterness round it out. This beer would compliment any dish with ginger in it, but having it as a stand alone beer it grows a bit tiresome.

Mouthfeel: crisp at the start and finish. Very short ginger laden aftertaste. Light-medium in body.

Drinkability: not a beer you can drink several of as the ginger begins to numb the tastebuds. Definitely would be a killer beer paired with the right dish.

Appearance: Pale gold in color, with perhaps a slight greenish tinge. Slight bubbles around the edge from the pour.

Smell: sharp smell of lemongrass and ginger, with a slight malt aftersmell

Taste: Intial ginger taste, with hints of lemon after. Finishes with a spice.

Mouthfeel: Light beer, not too much mouthfeel to speak of

Drinkability: FABULOUS...I can't say enough about the drinkability of this beer. Its a perfect summer brew, although I could drink it all year long. Works well with burgers, fries, wings, or pretty much anything.

Served in a pub glass. Pale clear yellow with slight greenish hue, light body, small, thin cream colored head that dissipates quickly. Lightly carbonated. Very slight lacing in glass after drinking.

This beer smells great. Strong ginger and lemongrass, milder malty, toasty yeast, and citrus smells.

This beer has a much milder flavor than what it smells like it is going to have. Malty, sweet ginger flavor mainly, with the lemongrass and citrus on the mid-back finish. Slight dry, hoppy finish. It all work very well together and is quite refreshing.

It really didn't have much of a mouthfeel, other than that of a light bodied beer. Not oily or clingy, but not watery either. This beer is highly drinkable. Very easy to drink and sessionable. I think this beer would pair nice with any oriental food or complement a burger and fries. I would really like to have some of this at home for a nice, light, tasty "summer" beer.

The beer was served in a pub glass.

Appearance: The beer has a clear straw yellow coloration. The beer has a off white head. The head has minimal retention. The beer leaves behind speckles on my glass.

Smell: The beer has very pleasing toasted maltyness. The beer has a great combo of ginger and lemongrass.

Taste: The taste is almost a let down compared to the smell. The beer has a pleasing maltyness. The maltyness is dominated by the ginger and lemon grass flavors.

Mouthfeel/ Drinkability: The beer has a light body. The beer is well carbonated. The beer would be a great accompliament to a spicy thai meal. This beer was very good and I drank a couple glasses of it.

Crystal clear, light gold colour topped by a white head. Spotty lacing composed of fine bubbles was left on the glass for the first half pint. Light, toasty malt in the aroma with citrusy, lemongrass and light ginger spiciness. Malty sweet to start with low bitterness. Lemongrass came forward in the mid, followed by a hint of spice in the finish. Light bodied and refreshing. An interesting flavour combination that works well and isn't overbearing.

First brew during my buddy Sulldaddy's bachelor party, served up in a pint glass from a tap.

Presents a pale gold color, with a hint of amber. slight fizzy edge layer present. Nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary here.
Aroma was mostly grainy with a bit of caramel and some musky hop on the nose. Maybe a touch of ginger in there?
Sipping, I get the nice musky hops up front followed by a sweet caramel and a lot of grainy, or as Sulldaddy would say some husky grain malts? I also catch some ginger that I smelled on the finish.
Medium carbonation with a nice bitter spicy feel help this brew out a lot. This would make a very good session brew. Pretty basic, but decently tasty.

First beer at visit to nodding head.
The beer arrives in a pint glass a bright gold color with a bleached white head that fades quickly to a thin edge layer.
BOdy is fairly lite and thin with fine tingly carbonation.
Flavor is generally sweet with caramel and a grainy husky malt quality. A little bit of citrusy orange sweetness too. A hint of ginger comes through on the finish.
Not a super complex beer but crisp refreshing and tasty. Great session beer and would be good with asian food I think.

Blonde brew served not very chilled at all. First impressions are being wacked over the head by the huge ginger nose.

Taste is thankfully not as sharply ginger as they could've managed. Mealy and grainy, like a ginger cookie. Finishes clean. After of toasty grains and ginger. Mild in hops and on the dry side of things -- only a light sweetness.

Interesting beer to have a pint of.

This had a deep, golden-yellow color and came with a slice of lemon on the side of the glass. There was a good head and beautiful effervescence present as the beer was served to me. I immediately noted a sweet, citrus scent as I sniffed the glass. This was followed up by a sweet, orangish tang on the tongue, followed by a sweet finish, especially in comparison to the Berliner Wiesse, which I tried earlier. The introduction of the lemon slice to the beer increases the dryness, especially at the finish. A good, summery beer with a name that invokes "The Simpsons."

This and the California Common proved to be my favorites from my trip to Nodding Head. This is a clear gold with a nice head. There’s a light herbal aroma. It’s a bit grassy with a dry malt finish. Tasty, but light. The lemongrass and ginger turn what would be just another decent lager into something pretty interesting.

I was pleasantly surprised with this brew. Described as a brew made with ginger and lemon grass as ingridients I thought I was in for an unpleasant experience. I've found out this very nice brew was made originally for a Vietnamese dinner event. It was made to pair with some of these southeast asian dishes.

In a nutshell, the brew doesn't have much carbonation nor lace. What it does have is a very pleasant, dry and crsip flavor. It's a refreshing brew that I hope to over the summer have out on my deck. I don't know if Nodding Head does growler or sixtel sales, but if they do, I'm getting it.

Brew is bright, with a light straw color. It provides a glimpse of southeast asia as the ginger and lemon grass are definitely detectable. Very smooth mouthfeel.

If you happen to find yourself close by to nodding head with your "light beer" freinds, this is I think a great alternative for you to convert your pals to craft brewing. It's that good.

The name alone makes you want to try it (esp since the simpson's episode w/ the monkey knife fight was on just yesterday -"oh, he ain't pretty no more")

Pours a hazy yellow, filled with bubble, light head (little retneion and lace). But this is not "fizzy Yellow beer" by any means.

Smells light. It tastes interesting. very light mouthfeel (and highly drinkable). Hints of citrus and ginger tartness mixes with lemony malty sweetness nicely. They say this is a lager, but it is not unlike a hefe by any means, shich is very interesting to me.

Times like this I wish they had a bottling line

A slightly hazy yellowish body teems with tiny vibrant bubbles beneath a short head of bright white foam. The retention is initially good, although it drops to a thin but creamy collar after the first few sips. The nose displays a balanced combination of lemon and sweetish malt with just a slight touch of ginger in the background. The body is light/medium and it's zesty carbonation gives it a light tingle on the tongue. In the flavor a delicate tartness balances the lightly sweet malt and mild spiciness. It's quite straightforward in that regard, offering little complexity, yet it's quite refreshing and highly quaffable. In fact, the subtlety and mildly tart note let it stand out from the crowd. Very nice! An impressive, unique summer beer! Well worth trying!
