On Tap in a pint glass
Fava comes in the glass olympic gold medal gold with some sharp bronze/hazy caramel spots within. A nice inch of head up top, cream colored white with some foamy appeal, always a great head from these nodding beers. Great stick.
Smell is rye appeal mixed in with American hops. not sure which type but maybe some 3-c action as I get some citrus, but that may be the belgian yeast. Smells sweeter than hoppy though overall. Baked bread is up there. Pungent.
A whole lot going on in the taste. A blast of rye up front, I must of caught this super fresh. Pine needles and Belgian yeast mix together, sweet fruit. The board says wood.. I can see maybe some oak chips thrown in for good measure, though im thinking it imparted a sweeter taste to this nicely malted eyepeeaye. it tastes like it was brewed 10 feet from me, oh yeah!!
Feel is quite sparky, it's highly carbed as most noddings are IMO, except the Berliner this particular night, which surprised me. Anywho, spritzy and may be overkill, but there is so much flavor, it's not bothering me. Medium body.
Overall, I really dug this beer, one of the better eye's from the nod in recent history and Iwish they growlered this, cause I would of boght one to drank.

On-tap at the brewpub.
Pours a dark amber-copper color with a half-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of smooth caramel malts with hints of spicy and earthy rye aromas lurking in the background. Also present are moderate amounts of citrus and floral hop aromas. As the beer warms the Belgian yeast exerts some influence with light and medium fruit aromas.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Grainy caramel malt and rye flavors kick things off and are joiend quickly by slight citrus hop flavors. The hop flavors intensify slightly midway through the sip and are joined by hints of leafy hops. Near the end of the sip the flavor profile sweetens up a bit due to the yeast and the sweetness carries through to a moderately bitter ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with solid carbonation.
Drinkability is very good. I had no problems finishing my glass and could easily have a few more.
Overall I thought this was a very interesting beer and they did a nice job of avoiding a potential mess with so much going on. Well worth a shot.

This beer is a slightly amber golden color with nice head retention and superb lacing that leaves a timeline on my pint glass. Aroma is a wonderful mix of grapefruit, lemon, pine and rye. The taste is well balanced with an initial attack comprised of grapefruit and pine from American hops. As the hops fade a light, yet adequate malt backbone takes center stage with a rye background. The rye is not as central as in some other rye beers, but it works very well with this brew. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium with a nice balanced finish and lingering rye notes. Very sessionable, and one of the better brews I have had at Nodding Head

Appearance: clear, golden, with a small head
Smell: a mix of grapefruit, pine, light Belgian spice, and pineapple
Taste: It follows the smell with a little extra emphasis on the hops
Mouthfeel: sweet start that gets progressively hoppier..medium body
Drinkability: I thought this was the best brew on they had on tap and had two...It tastes good for an IPA...then there is the little extra added pineapple taste that puts this over the top. Fine example of the style.
