A: dark black with slightly lighter highlights and a foamy brown head that leaves a ring.

S: smell has belgian fruity esters along with dark roasted malt flavors like coffee and chocolate.

T: taste is much the same as the smell, but for some reason it doesn't mix all that well for me.

M: smooth, but well carbonated. It's thick feeling with a foamy carbonation.

O: syrupy, so it's not incredibly drinkable after one glass. Overall it's a good beer, and a fine one to have on tap just down the street.

a: deep, dark brown in color - essentially black, nice layer of retained carbonation

s: smooth roasts, lots of dusty cocoa and semi-sweet chocolate, caramel structure, powdery yeast

m: carbonation around medium, medium-full body, pretty smooth

t: smooth roast structure with a light caramel sweetness, dusty cocoa and a full chocolate flavor, some yeasty complexity, seems well balanced given the size of the chocolate injection, enjoyable

d: easy

thistle type glass at the brewpub

brewer info: "Bigger and more chocolaty than ever...brewed to export strength (7% abv) using over 26 lbs of Valrhona chocolate, as well as an additional kilo of Dutch cocoa powder...Belgian yeast adds complexity...dark, rich and, well, chocolaty"
