"This style of beer was invented in England by train porters around the turn of the century. The porters would meet at the pub after work and mix an Irish stout with a pale ale to create a slightly more, mild dark ale. This porter is 4.2% alcohol by volume."

First, I have to object to the name. Although there are many local landmarks named for Klamaths elegant population of white pelicans, the word white simply doesnt hang well on porter.
Aviary monikers aside, White Pelican has the distinction of being Mia & Pias least charismatic beer. Though the head and lace are appropriate, its indiscernible aroma and dilute taste leave much to be desired. The malts also tend toward sweetness and lack the essential roasted properties of a hearty American porter.
This isnt necessarily a bad beer. With eyes closed it might serve as a suitable pale or amber. But as a porter White Pelican simply doesn't deliver the goods.
