Tasted by two pints at a JDW pub, The Capitol, at Forest Hill, SE London. Served by a handpump w/o a sparkler.
A: dark copper body holds an enticing creamy froth of off-white colour on the top, which sustains perfectly throughout the drink.
S: juicy and rich fruitiness (featuring ripe apples, aromatic red grapes, and a touch of orange jam) comes first, true to a premium bitter and mixed with some flowery hop input; yet it smells quite light actually, while the hop resins also offers some refreshing feel; at the same time, the syrupy+creamy dark malts retain thickness, with supporting hints of nuts as well as toastiness.
T: a nice and mixed malty flavour (mildly nutty as well as biscuity, with an added touch of crystal/roasted malts) provide a solid platform, where the main theme goes fruity with lots of toasted apples and dried berries to offer; followed by a rather clean but also mildly dryish-bitter palate of roast tea-leaves and root-herbal/licorice hops, lingering down the sides & rear of the tongue.
M&D: a very easy-drinking and clean-palate premium bitter this is; its drinkability comes at the price of a more complex composition and flavour, but all in all this time round it tastes just as good as my first encounter two years ago, at another JDW pub!

Cask conditioned at the NI CAMRA fest
Pours with a dark amber body, verging on wee heavy territory, light tan head with some retention
Smell, hints of roasted malt, some estery sweetness
Taste, oily body, some warming alcohol, quite sweet
A very nice ale, great on cask
