A 330ml bottle with a BB of June 2018. Purchased a little while back from Trembling Madness in York. The label describes it as a double dry-hopped pale ale brewed with rye and spelt.
A: Poured into a tulip. Bottle conditioned. A bright, hazy golden hue with slight suspended sediment and plentiful carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before reducing to a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of sharp, fruity hops with hints of citrus, peel, mild tropical fruit, berries, grass, ale yeast, earthiness, pale malt and faint spice. Hop character quite subdued; rye/spelt very subtle. Pretty good.
T: Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with notes of mild citrus zest, peel, subtle tropical fruit, vague white grape, grass/hay, ale yeast, earthiness, pale malt, faint rye/spelt and a touch of spice. Very dry, followed by a crisp, delicate bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Somewhat astringent; dries the palate. Aftertaste of mild aromatic hops, subtle citrus, earthiness, ale yeast and pale malt.
O: Quite nice, though the use of rye and spelt go rather unnoticed. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are light with understated fruity hops, pale malt and earthy yeast. Lovely body. Very drinkable; the restrained hop use makes it refreshing. The use of rye and spelt is unusual given that the grain character is not really emphasised. Goes down readily enough - worth sampling.
