Pours a cloudy deep golden coloration with a medium, foamy, quickly receeding head. Smells of light biscuity malt and foral, citrus and tropical hops: tangerine, papaya, pineapple, with a certain grassy presence as well. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of biscuity malt and floral citrus and slightly sweet tropical hops with notes of tangerine, papaya and pineapple, as well as a distinct grassy/herbal quality and a certain note of estery spice and bubble gum. Finishes quite dry, with a medium bitterness and some tropical, grassy and slightly estery notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I found this a little disappointing, coming from two of the UK's top breweries, but maybe it's just my personal dislike for Amarillo hops at work here. While this does have a decent overall balance and nice citrus and tropical notes, there are also some very distinct, floral/grassy/herbal and lightly estery spicy/bubble gum notes here that seem somewhat unbalanced and just don't work at that well for me personally. Would love to know what kind of yeast they used here.
