look: one finger dark tan coloured head which dissipates at a reasonable pace, beer is a deep dark black, no light bleeding through.
smell: big meaty malt aroma, black bread, molasses, treacle, maple syrup, red currant, cranberry, fig, raisin, earthy, oaky, smokey, cigar smoke, smells quite good.
taste: big, not as big as you’d anticipate but big, big malt flavours, dark bread, meaty, unami, nice sweetness to it, nice bit of maple but not too sweet, treacle, caramel, lot of the aforementioned dark fruits, oaky, smokey, toasty, earthy, moderate to big bitterness on the finish, smokey oaky flavours linger on the finish along with some sweet fruits, pretty tasty stuff.
feel: full bodied, low carbonation, a tonne of alcohol warming and lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue, obviously to be sipped
overall: a wild and super fun giant stout from wylam here, one which i shall have to sip slowly over a long time, lest i pass out
