440 ml can, as Wylam x Yeastie Boys WxY6 Southern Hemisphere IPA, from Left Field Beer, England. ABV is 7.0%. Opaque pale yellow colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of crushed green gooseberries and crushed white grapes, also notes of peaches / nectarine and apricots. Citric flavour, also notes of said fruits. Resinous and bitter finish.

neat hazy ipa here in collaboration with yeastie boys, my first from wylam, its modern and pretty dense, and the cans look awesome, but it was not super fresh when i had it and much of this southern hemisphere hop goodness has mellowed and even decayed a bit, a shame, but still tasty in the form i had it in, one of the more contemporary hoppy beers i encountered on my recent trip to scotland, so much cool beer happening in the uk right now. nelson, galaxy, and nectaron in this, heck of a mix, and its easy to appreciate what this was at peak. very haze pale yellow brew, some density to it, but also a lot of carbonation amassing a high rising white wispy head which beautifies it a little bit, not a total murk bomb. the nose is juicy and a bit oxidized, but decidedly new zealand, with white peach ans sauvignon blanc notes, kiwi fruit and melon rind, sweet orange and even a whisper of vanilla, light dankness but low bitterness, and close to that saturation point where its just slightly green to me, lots of grain visually but its subtle in the aroma, light biscuit, wheaty, a little raw too actually, faintly yeasty in a way that maybe suggests its a little less refined, but its not like, english ale yeast or estery or even like a new school engineered strain or anything, just perhaps not super cleaned up. the flavor is good, even with the hop fade, juicy peach and apricot, mango sweetness in the middle, white wine, very tropical, stone fruit abounds in this, but it finsihes drier than it seems like it will, and its more resolved too, with enough grain balance, light bready character there, and less from the yeast than in the aroma i think. lime and lime leaf from the galaxy, a little weedy from the nelson, major peach from the nectaron, and even not at its best this is pretty impressive from a hop profile standpoint. would love to catch this at its best sometime, and to try the others in this little series of hazy new zealand ipa, they all sound bomb!
