Caramel amber colour with a very nice and straight looking, foamy white head about the same size as an index finger. Retention is pretty good with the head staying, unchanged for about five minutes.
Caramel and toffee to begin along with some sweet malts and some background fruits. There is also a lot of bitterness right at the end of the aroma as well as some earthy notes and a little bread.
Darker fruit at the start and a strong, sweet malt flavour along with some caramel. There is some bread, some sugary sweetness and some toffee along with a strong bitter finish.
Medium with a smooth finish and a wet feel to it along with lots of bitter malts right at the end. It goes down well and is one of the better of the style I've had of late.
A nice, solid effort for an ESB and like I mentioned above, on of the better of the style I have drank lately. This one wasn't all that much different for plenty I have had in the past but it was done well and had a good balance of flavour with a nice wet feel to it.
