Pours clear golden straw in color, with a thin white head and average lacing.
Sweetish nose, almost like an adjunct lager or malt liquor, but not unpleasant and there are no off-notes or obvious flaws. No hop presence to speak of.
Sweet, and with a hint of caramel on the first sip. Lighter biscuit malt notes at mid-palate, and some pleasant nuttiness toward the end. Not overly carbonated, but just the right amount for the drink. Extremely low bitterness, and virtually no hop character to speak of.
The mouthfeel is light (as is the alcohol content - 4.5% as per the label) but this is a good balance with respect to the up front sweetness.
It reminds me favorably of a nut brown ale, but one which is golden in color.
Very easy to drink overall, and an uncommon take on a pale ale.
Note: After recently speaking with one of the partners behind the creation of this beer, I learned that it was brewed using brown rice, which explains the nuttiness.
