Copenhagen 9/6 2019. 33 cl bottle from Høkeren, Ravnsborggade, Kbh N. Drawing of Bulldog with a black eye looking grumpy on the label.
Pours unclear amber with a medium-sized white head. Dense. Settles as thin layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is quite malty sweet with a more moderate hop profile. Caramel, toffee. Lighter odor of fermented exotic fruit and citric notes of oranges and lemon.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, almost flat texture.
Flavor is fairly sweet followed by more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and malty with a light touch of alcohol. Lingers shortly.
No reason to sport a black eye on behalf of this fairly malty DIPA which manages to hide it's brutal ABV fairly well.

May 2015: 330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.4%. Deep orange colour, moderate to low off-white head. Fairly strong aroma of sweetish malts and citrussy hops, hints of orange marmalade and pine. The flavour is well hopped throughout, but could still be called "well balanced", it is not extreme for a double IPA. The malty base is sufficient, but not too sweet. Very drinkable.

Planning another trip to Sweden in 2017, and noticed this beer has been retired. That is too bad, as back in 2013, on draft at The Liffey pub in Stockholm, it was a more than passable, interesting DIPA, with peppers in the aroma and finish.

Pours a mid brown body with thick, really thick full cm just of white microscopic bubbles
and after 5 mins it was only halved almost as good looking as a draught beer.
Bit of a barley wine smell with notes of sarsaparilla and a tiny trace of honey
Taste wise once again more on the barley side big butterscotch flavour slight grapefruit notes in the background that warm to a slight bitter finish
Nice low key carbonation with the mouthfeel that gives attention to the strength without being to heavy going.
This is a really good ale, not sure about it being a double IPA
but aside from this and the lack of a real nose
well worth trying.

A clouded rather dark amber beer, an off-white firm head with good lacing.
The smell is sweet, fruity, mango and gooseberry.
The taste starts sweet, brown bread, then citric galore, grape-fruit, lemon, possible pine-apple core.
Medium low carbonation, small foamy bubbles, softish texture, a rather full body and a dry almost coarse finish.
A nice hoppy dog, a bit young but promising.
