Pours a clear gold with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, plastic, and slight chemical aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, corn flake, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a below average beer that is a bit of a chore to drink.

Serving type: bottle.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 11/27/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear bright gold color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread grain, floral, grass, and herbal earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with well balanced pale malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bready grain, light toast, floral, grass, and herbal earthiness. Minimal earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bready grain, light toast, floral, grass, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice and pleasant balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very solid blonde ale. All around well balanced pale malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

Streaming bubbles through the yellowish amber brew. Nice persistent foam in the tall Maredsous glass. Plenty of carbonation in the mouth. Aroma is kind of musty, wet grain, cardboard. A premonition of things to come.

The surprising bitter flavor emerges boldly. The body is fairly light, but that's the only feature you could identify with a Blonde. Woody flavor, walnut skins, harsh dishwater. Grainy. Hints of some weird candy sweetness. If there was a mere toxic overdose of hops, it wold be salvageable for flavoring. But this is just bitter and awful. The sink drinks tonight!

I can't see any obvious flaws. Beautiful but bad. Even a nice label. I think they just made a crappy beer. From the 22oz bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Encinitas.
