Witbier is spiced, usually with coriander and the peels of both sweet and bitter oranges and frequently with at least one more "secret spice" known only to the brewer . Our White Satin Witbier is delicately spiced with orange & lemon peel as well as coriander. Another addition to the unique flavor of this fabulous product is the special proprietary yeast strain.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a murky copper orange color with no head. Smooth and good carbonation. Flavor is of oranges and ever so slight touch of corriander. Wheat flavor comes out at the end along with a light hops bitterness. This makes it a well balanced beer as the beginning is slightly sweet. The down side of this beer is that the palate is very watery, otherwise it would have a lot going for it.

One of my best friends got married in Omaha and had his rehearsal dinner at Upstream so I decided to try the seasonal offering of "White Satin" or their take on a Belgian white. I love Belgian white beers so I had high hopes going in, I wasn't disappointed.

Served in a pint glass from tap, orangey gold color. About a finger white head which gave way to a good bit of lacing after a few sips.

Smelled wonderful. Hints of orange and coriander, a fruity nose that was refreshing in and of itself on a hot summer day.

As far as taste goes, this was one of the best tasting beers I've ever had. Fresh and everything I want a Belgian style white to be. Yeast start which gives way to the previously mentioned orange and coriander, great finish, very refreshing.

Good carbonation, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Perfect.

Drinkability on this is great. Refreshing, smooth, perfect on a hot summer day.

Like I said before, this was one of the better beers I've had. I had one other from a brewery in Lincoln, Nebraska while I was up there and I can definitely say that Nebraska knows how to make beer. Now I just need to find a way to get this down to me in TN.

Presentation: Sampled during a visit to the Upstream Brewing Company, Omaha on 24th August 2004. Served on draft, in a pint Glass. Advertised as the current “Seasonal”, I was intrigued to see if it was better than the American Wheat [the standard offering] that I just had. Second of the night.

Appearance: Now this was more like it. Opaque dark yellow body that looked to have some orange hints, but it was quite dark inside and the light could have played tricks. Finger thick white head stayed through a couple of sips, but it soon broke down to leave just a thin whispy covering which was a shame. Had a lovely soft conditioning, small bubbles formed a smooth wash as the glass was tipped and they raced to the underside of the thin head. Shame about the head, I suspect using an oversize glass may help this brew and improve its head appearance.

Nose: Wow – A Belgium Witbier for sure. Big fresh inviting fruity aromas. Orange peel, coriander, lots of wheat in a support role all build into that indescribably nice “Belgium Wit” nose. Hmmm, smells good.

Taste: As good as the nose, fresh, fresh, fresh and fruity with spicy finish. Lots of yeast and malts in the start with a tangy orange peel first third building into a yeasty and spicy middle, coriander comes through in the back end. Finishes crisp and very clean, incredibly refreshing. Nice long finish, the ending has a lovely spicy yeast feel to it. Moorish.

Mouthfeel: Very creamy, luscious and slick, I could offer minimal resistance to this. Above average carbonation but this has a highly conditioned body that keeps all the light flavors alive and up there.

Drinkability: A really great drinker, much more refreshing than the American Wheat I had earlier, supremely refreshing and dangerously drinkable. Clean smooth lines. Slides down well.

Overall: This Wit has an impressive flavor profile, perfectly in line with where it should be, such a treat to get to try a good attempt at a Wit in a Brewpub which are usually a graveyard of boring Wits. Very Good. Thumbs Up to Upstream for this excellent Seasonal, and having it on sale alongside the standard American Wheat. Just wish they would go easy on the lemon slices though!!

Orangey-honey/red hue, rather foggy, served with a smallish white head with fair retention, spider-web lace. Inviting Wit nose, orange & coriander, hint of wheat… yeast, authentic. Lovely palate, dead-on for a Wit, orange, coriander… pleasantly spicy… there is ample depth in the flavor profile. Light mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. I find this beer to be refreshing & zesty… very tasty! Try one!

Our waiter said this was exactly like Blue Moon, I ordered one anyway. Boy was he wrong; this is a first-rate Wit.
