Don't get me wrong, this beer isn't great, but for the style it's as good as it gets. Would be an easy drinker on a hot Nebraska day.

one of the lightest beers ive ever had, almost nothing there. its very well made, but just lacks flavor and body to the point where this is basically water. for those who like that kind of thing, this is a whole league better than the BMC crap out there, but nothing remarkable. beautiful pour though, lacey and heady, clear golden color, ultra light, good bubbles. smells like watered down light barley malt and ale yeast. mineral finish on the flavor, but nothing really else to speak of, hops are just supportive but not distinct. feel is good for light beer people, well carbonated. there are no off flavors, nothing bad about this, it just lacks flavor. clean and drinkable though, but at under 4% abv I would have to work way to hard to catch a buzz here.

This beer came to me a very pale gold color with a rim of foam and very little lacing on the surface. The nose was dominated by grain, but not too overpowering. The downside of the nose is that it had a quality that made me recall flat keg beer the morning after a party. The flavor was okay. Pretty simple and straightforward, it was just that one little hint in the nose that troubled me.

Tasted on-tap 11/06/06 at Upstream brewpub in Omaha, NE.

Clear straw color with a low white head and decent carbonation. Primarily an adjunct-like aroma and flavor with no hint of hops. Really not muc here to write home about. Light bodied and a bit watery with a light adjunct-like finish.

Unfortunately a typical Light Lager for a brewpub... These are just plain hard to make well...

Per UBC website: 3.8% ABV

Upstreams answer to the big boys...this seems intended to be a kind of gateway beer for the die-hard macro drinkers, which is a good thing. It may open their eyes to the fact that a brewpub can offer them something familiar, but slightly better. They may even move on to bigger and better beers after taking this first step. This used to be available as a seasonal this summer, but it was welcomed so well they decided to offer it year-around. Good idea for bussiness reasons.

now for the revew

This beer is a very light gold with moderate beading. The head is very white and wispy...soon almost gone, but enought lingers for appreciation.
There is a light and pleasent maltyness in the nose, also a grainyness. Not much hop presence, but i doubt there was one intended.
This beer gives a very good pull, nice and refreshing on a summer day, i suppose. Maybe a little watery, but what did i expect.
I am impressed at the cleaness of the taste and nose. There are no hints of off-ness in this beer. Very professional and i am sure hard to accomplish.
Drinkability gets a bump for the friendlyness of this beer. A great gateway beer, which i am sure will become a good seller.
