Clear, amber in hue with a smattering of copper, it was served with an off-white head. At the apex the foam was almost two-fingers in height. Head retention was excellent; it was slow to fade to a thin cap. There was plenty of subsequent lacing as well. Overall this beer looks pretty darn good. There is not much aroma here; it wasnt really served that cold either. I could detect weak suggestions of biscuit and kisses of earthiness, grain, and floral. The potency is low and it fails to say anything. I cant call the bouquet inviting. The palate is very dry tasting. Desert-like. The flavors are crisp and curt; it is oddly pleasant though. The sweetness is low and there isnt much roundness to it. There is some caramel but it is uneventful. The finish is a combination of light sweetness, caramel, grain, and flowers. On the whole this beer is not very exciting and I wouldnt call this an Irish Red. Whatever it is I enjoyed my pint, it worked well with my pub salad. I dont think it could hold up to any other foods. Medium in body, the carbonation is almost firm, the mouthfeel is pleasant enough and it works well with the flavor profile. It is drinkable but monotonous. I only order one, I was at the brewpub downtown for about four hours on Saturday night and this was my first beer and I didnt return too it. You get what Im saying? It was a nice try; still I cant recommend this beer.
