this is a rad beer, another one of their mixed fermentation sours, and featuring a badass elephant judge all psychadelic on the label, really awesome packaging on a great beer. the brew is purple in color, fizzy like a soda, and almost electric looking. it smells sweeter than it tastes, with an almost blueberry baked dessert complexion where the berries have been dosed with sugar and vanilla and cooked down into a filling of some sort, it has that kind of warming wintery smell thats more prominent than the bacterial sourness thats present. the flavor is a little less of that and a little more of the tart little blueberries with a lemon note from the lacto and even a little wild funk about it, more than was in the table sour, but i dont know if this sees any wood or not. its so clean and crisp and newish that i would guess not, but it also has such a mellow well roundedness and microbial maturity that it would be entirely conceivable that it did get some time in oak. it just doesnt have a woody flavor. the blueberries are natural tasting, a little jammy, and very highly dosed in this, but the beer feels light and dry by the end, really well carbonated, and not too sour to drink a whole bottle of. impressive little series of beers they have working here, i didnt know they were at this level on these types of ales. awesome!
