I wanted to see what Upstream was capable of making so I went for their highest proof beer available. It was strong but put a good chunk of the alcohol up front, not allowing much other flavor to come out. It's a reddish amber, lighter than other dopplebocks I've had. The aroma is faint with only a small amount of nutmeg. The taste has a bit caramel with nutmeg and cinnamon that are sidestepped by the alcohol which I thought was a bit much because it distracted so much from the other flavors. The bartender was kind enough to recommend a half-pint glass and that was a good thing because any more might have been too much.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
