Had on-tap at Crescent Moon, review from notes.
Arrives bearing a thin, light brown head that leaves fairly minimal lacing on the glass. Body is dark brown in color, opaque, don't notice any carbonation.
Aromas of roasted malt, coconut, and some faint bitter chocolate. Unfortunately, the coconut isn't as huge a presence as I would've liked. It's still there, and it's good, but the idea of this had even better potential.
Taste is good, but unfortunately, a bit thin. Was hoping for a big, bold presence of coconut and chocolate or coffee, but it's more like a mix of semi-sweet dark malt, coconut, and milk chocolate. Passed this around to my friends who agreed that we had to strain to pick up much of the coconut.
Beer is medium bodied, fairly light end of the spectrum for this beer. Carbonation a bit low, a bit watery, generally disappointing.
Overall, this was a promising idea with some good results, but also some disappointment. Would be happy to try again if the recipe was retooled a bit.
