On my first visit to this pub I had decided, based on their beer list and the brisk fall weather, to start with this intriguing sounding beer. It did not end in tragedy, but and sound or fury I generated in anticipation did not signify much either.
This pours pitch black, served in a chalice. Not much lacing.
There is hardly any aroma for what seems to be a high gravity beer, part of the problem could be that they serve this cold. In the Midwest brewers put much effort to brew interesting beers and then serve them at Bud Light temps!
There was the malt and sweetness I was looking for. I don't know what to characterize the sweet as , fruit, molasses?
The big disappointment here was the thin mouth-feel.
This wasn't bad, just not what I was hoping for from the highest ABV and I figured highest gravity beer offered in one of my favorite styles.
