Served in a standard pint, the beer was a dark brown with an off-white head.
The nose was very sweet with just a hint of grains.
The taste was a bit too sweet. There was some underlying fruit (apple) and a bit of slightly toasted grain, but they couldnt add enough balance.
The mouth was fine with a nice bit of heft. The drinkablity was cut down a bit by the sweetness. Not a bad, beer, but I like to measure Scottish ales against Belhaven, and this one was a bit lacking.

(Served in a dimpled chalice)
A- This beer pours a deep brown dense body with a thin wisp of light tan head. The body was to dark to see any carbonation.
S- This beer has a smell of sweet caramel malt
T- The taste of caramel malt and toasted malt had a bit of roasted malt quality. The finish had a faint alcohol taste that balance the sweetness of the malt. As it warmed the faint hint of coffee or dark roasted barley came through. A note of sourness was also in the finish. An oxidation or oak hint was very subtle but nice in the finish.
M- This beer had a medium mouthfeel with no real alcohol warmth.
D- This beer had a sweet maltyness to it but the alcohol wasn't enough to really balance the sweetness. It did have some other nice malt flavor but it is really missing the complexity that I would expect from an all grain brew.
