Billed as a Vienna, but it smells mostly like malt extract syrup. The hops are fine--medium bitter, european (I'll guess Hallertau, but no info was available), but the malt smells like the beer was made from kit. It's off and soapy.
And the kitness is confirmed once I take the first sip. The hops are a little stale, but they thankfully do a good job of overriding the extracty malt. It's drinkable, but not good.
Really a bizarre attempt at the style, but I guess it's hard to brew things that taste appropriate to form when you're not even using actual malt.
