On-tap @ Barcade in New York, NY.
Sixpoint made a Zwickel? Who knew?! Apparently it is a limited draft item at the moment, so I had to give it a whirl when I saw it.
Light amber color, on the darker side for a Zwickelbier, and hazy with a small white head. Bready, slightly toasted malt aroma with a decent amount of spice from the hops as well. Sweet malt flavor with a kick from the spicy hops that give it a bitter, yet clean finish. A good amount of carbonation keeps it lively and easy-drinking.
Seeing as how I'm a big fan of The Crisp, it's not surprising that I liked another German-style beer from Sixpoint. It may not be the most traditional Zwickelbier ever made, but it is an enjoyable one. Keep 'em coming!
