Thanks to sixpoint for the trade. Hand bottled...
Appears a semi-transparent copper toned amber with a fluffy beige head that slowly fades into a mild cap. Spotty streaks of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of cream, toffee, caramel, vanilla, and light citrus.
Taste echoes the aromas with the caramel, citrus, and malted cream shining through.
Mouthfeel is creamy, silky smooth, and easy drinking with just a touch of bitterness.

Poured a deep crimson with some orange/amber highlighs and an off-white fairly sizable head.
Aroma has a very grass and hay note and then moves to a but of nuttiness and caramel. Almost herbal in a way.
Flavors of caramel, big, earthy nuttiness and some raw hop resins stand out. Actually, well balanced but fairly agressively hopped.
Mouthfeel was highlighted by the roasted nuttiness on top of the sweet malts and really brought to a point by the raw hop oils that oozed from this one.
Drinkability is solid. Bit over the top on the hop side as it warmed but this a bold brew and nice departure form the average amber ale. Sort of an imperial amber

Enjoyed this one at the David Copperfield's cask festival over the past week end, poured at just below room temperature from a metel cask. Very low carbonation, minor lacing, nose of mosty malt. Fairly straight foward malty ale. Slight hop bite towards te finish. Balanced, British style ale. Nothing special, but quite drinkable, good way to start the evening/get the session rolling.

Had on tap from the Sunset Cantina in Boston, Mass. Presented to me in a 12oz. toulip glass the beer was a mohoganny/dark brown in color with about a half-finger of creamy white head. Excellent lacing throughout the sample.

The smell had some slight roasted malt with some dark fruits and a generous hop character in the nose as well.

The taste was innitially malty with a rather significant hoppy and bitter aftertaste alla Arrogant Bastard. Faint toffee and some caramel as well. Sublte roasted flavors and darker fruit, perhaps figs in the taste. A slight alcoholic warming to each sip but everything very well checked and balanced by everything else.

Moderate body with ample carbonation.

This one was very drinkable and very enjoyable. Subtle for its ABV with only slight hints of its slightly higher than average numbers. An easy one to enjoy.

pours a very deep red with peachy orange highlights around the edges. actively carbonated and resting below a beautiful 2-finger shaving cream head. craters form quick as big, gassy bubbles pop in the froth. first thing i picked up in the aroma is super-fresh cut grass. light and tangy scent of euro hoppiness. this perfumey character is completely turned on its ear by the brew's intense flavor. big, spicy roasted malts are aggressively dominated by an iron fist of hop bitterness which mellows with each sip. this is a huge beer, folks, and not for those drinkers who like their reds full of caramel sweetness or any lager-like lawnmower qualities. finish on this beer slides into a tart and somewhat lagery bitterness that exudes alot of carbonation. left with some of that roasty flavor, a thin dusting of baker's chocolate and unripe banana. deep and intense... almost too much for me. next bottle i'll expect it. between this beer and the brian boru from three floyds, my concept of red ales has been fubar'ed. cheers to sixpoint for a real outside the box version here.
