Pours a clear, bright orange color with a finger of frothy head. Smell is immediately present. Nice orange and citrus, grapefruit mixed with some slight spice.

Taste is well-balanced, and much different than a IPA. Take note, this is a Belgian variety of the typical IPA. Citrus tones and again, the spice, make for a very complex brew.

Finish is somewhat dry, and makes for a crisp beer. Overall, nice alternative IPA.

On tap at the Blind Tiger

Pours a golden amber color with a weak wispy white head.

Aroma is of a grassy earthy hop, some grapefruit. Light Belgian yeast spice and sugary sweetness.

The taste is of a grassy limey hop, light grapefruit and tropical fruit. A bit of clove from the yeast and a sugary candi sugar sweetness. Some candied fruit.

The feel is light with crisp carbonation. Good balance between hop and malt. Drinks easy.

An average bipa needs more Belgian character.

I had this on-tap at Max's. Poured into a sample glass.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy yellow with a half finger of off white head and great lacing.

Smell: Some sweet malt. Citrus hops dominate. This one has what I can only describe as a west coast IPA smell.

Taste: There is a crisp, peachy hop bitterness. Mild malt sweetness with bitter citrus peel in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with smooth carbonation and a mildly dry finish.

Overall: I enjoyed the hop profile and the fruity notes. This beer is really easy to drink.

I'm not a huge fan of this style but usually try it, especially when it is introduced by a brewery I like. I had a sixteen ounce draft of this at a local beer bar the other day. Overall it was better than many in the style and I'd get it again if there weren't any better ipa's around.

Appearance was a golden color, somewhat hazy with a nice foamy head of carbonation.

Aroma was mostly of citrus hops but a little bit of belgian yeast and some cracker malt aromas as well.

Flavor was bitter enough to be an ipa but also pretty well balanced and easy to drink.

Overall a good beer that I would recommend.

A - Pours a fairly clear copper-orange color with a nice finger of frothy white head. The head had okay retention, reducing to a nice layer with some nice lacing.

S - Very nice citrus aroma with some earth hops mixed in. There is also some nice yeast spice to round off the nose. Very well balanced and very inviting.

T - Starts off nice and citrusy and a touch of hop bitterness with some earthy/floral undertones. In the middle, the yeast spice really shines. The finish is full of the citrus flavors and some nice lingering bitterness. Very well balanced.

M - Medium to medium-full bodied with some nice assertive carbonation. The finish is very dry and along with the carbonation, the beer feels super crisp overall.

D - Very drinkable. The taste is really excellent with a lot of balance and a lot of flavor. Overall, very smooth, crisp, and refreshing.

a beer with an excellent yeast character and a forward wheat quality that is similar to unibroue but less filtered. don't think it would do well in storage. has a hope quality like an american wheat but with esters added by the beligian sugar. nose of lemon zest and wheat and tangerine that carries over into the palate. palate is creamier in feel than expected. not the dry feel i was hoping for. but actually pretty successfully rendered. and estery hoppy 'blonde'.

Draught @ Beer Table.

Pours dark amber with a healthy, creamy light tan head.

Nose is candy sweet, resiny hops, a bit of spicy yeast.

Taste is candy sugar and pale malt sweetness, a bit of zesty yeast spiciness, and a resiny, piny hop character that emerges about midway through and sits on top of the malty sweetness without dominating. Well balanced and drinkable, finish is dry and slightly resiny, with a bit of residual spicy yeast.

Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, a bit creamy, medium-full bodied. Well done and drinkable version of the style.
