Blood Rave is a blend of Rum Barrel-aged Imperial Stout and Blood Orange Berliner Weisse. It starts with a shot of cardamom on the nose, since we housed 5Beans (our Porter with a bunch of adjuncts, including cardamom) in these same barrels, then it segues into a rich stout, before doing a 180 turn and going sour and fruity. It’s nuts. The long finish of the Imperial Stout closes the deal.

On tap over the weekend. Came pitch black with a small tan/white head. Smelled of some roasted malts, orange, but no discernible rum or cardamom that this beer was said to be aged in. Taste is where this got interesting. Although this beer was bitch black as expected from a stout it was very thin because of the Berliner Weiss. The touch of the "sour" orange was nice and caused a complex blend of flavors. Again I did not get cardamom or rum in the flavor either. This was an enjoyable beer as it was something different but I will not seek this out again.
