12 ounce can into snifter; 2017 vintage, best before 11/7/2020. Pull tab broke off, had to open it with a knife. Pours fairly cloudy opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, molasses, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oak earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of huge medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, molasses, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oak earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, peppery, roast, char, coffee bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, brown bread/crust, light licorice/dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Very clean lagering, mildly yeasty. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mild increasing warmth of 10.1%, with minimal lingering barrel booze after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged flavored Baltic porter! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, bourbon barrels, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish; amazingly soft feel. Perfectly balanced between rich malts, cocoa, vanilla, fruity/nutty coffee complexity, and bourbon barrel presence/integration; with solid earthy hops, and mild fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly amazing offering, and world class style example.

Looks and smells relatively normal but the taste was not pleasant at all. Doesn't quite seem to be infected and not completely undrinkable but something was wrong. At least it wasn't an expensive drainpour.

Looks good. Great head. Smells coffee and chocolate with very slight vanilla. Hint of hot boubon. Tastes pretty good. Carmello anthony here. Too effervescent. I opened the can after it sat to get warm. So possibly changed how I would precieve the co2 loss w/ gained temp. Overall tasty. Would like to sit on a can a year or so and revisit.

Effervescent, roasty, non-offensive. Doesn't taste barrel aged. A good-to-great carbonated porter. Buy a single if you can, avoid the 4 pack at all costs.

12 oz. can

Pours dark maroon brown black with a fairly dense creamy tan beige foam head. Smells like big luscious rich smooth dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa husks, smooth bourbon, rich caramel, sweet toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, some oak, toasted bready malts, mild dark fruit like cherry, hints of ash and leather, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like exquisite coffee, cocoa husks, dark chocolate, some dark fruit, cherry, smooth bourbon, rich caramel, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, oak, toasted bready malts, mild hints of ash and leather, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels really soft and light, super smooth, creamy and silky with moderate carbonation. Overall a really great bourbon barrel aged Baltic porter with cocoa husks and coffee.

On tap at Belmont Station the other day.

The beer pours a pretty dark brown color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose there's a huge presence of coffee, along with dark chocolate, light vanilla and light bourbon. The bourbon aroma seemed to impart something of a leather and tobacco aroma in this beer, which was nice. The flavor profile replicated the nose pretty closely, but with a slight burnt toast and roasty flavor on the finish that seemed to dry out the sweetness in this beer. Mouthfeel is fairly full otherwise, with the alcohol well integrated into the flavor profile. Drinkability is pretty good, though you can tell the abv. is up there a bit in this one.

Pretty nice beer from Sixpoint. A bit more bourbon would have been nice, but other than that, there's really not much to complain about with this well made, well crafted BA porter.

2017 Vintage
12oz can Best By 07NOV2020
Dark brown with a 1/4" creamy tan head...very good retention.
Roasted malt, coffee/mocha with cream, subtle bourbon booze aroma. Very nice, fairly complex aroma.
Early coffee hit, more aggressive than it is in the aroma, booze heat late and lingering. Not much chocolate in the flavor...coffee and boozy dominant. Some alcohol sweetness in the finish.
Medium bodied, low to medium carbonation. Somewhat tannic/Astringent from the barrel and coffee.
Glad to have seen this in TX, first time I've seen it despite looking for it previously.

2017 Vintage from the can, pours so dark brown that it looks black with a 2 finger foamy tan/khaki colored head that was full of bubbles and faded very slowly, leaving really nice foamy spider web lacing and rings as it went down. Really nice looking brew for a BBA porter.

Smells of burnt coffee grinds, cocoa powder, light vanilla, charred wood, bourbon, toffee or molasses, brown sugar, dark chocolate, grass, cactus, smoked malts and coffee beans. This takes the basic Baltic Porter and elevates it not to the next level, but 5 levels up; roasty, complex and getting better as it warmed, the cocoa, bourbon barrel and coffee work well together and compliments and stand alone aroma's.

Like the nose the flavor has everything I could ask for in a Baltic Porter and then some: cocoa, bourbon, barrel/oaky notes and coffee come out strong, followed by smoked malts, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, coconut, burnt coffee grinds, bitter bakers chocolate, dark chocolate, almonds and maple syrup. Roasty with a sweetness that's sugary but not cloyingly sweet, the bitterness gets cut down by the sweet elements and helps completely hide the ABV.

Like the original 3Beans this BBA version is way above the rest of the beers in this style.
