On tap @ Little Frankies in NYC, on "Sixpoint nite", this new creation upon arrival looks bold, strong and flavorful, it did not dissapoint! The look is a murky shade of dark almond, brownish plum, minimal head, but leaving nice ringed, fine lacing. Full bodied and bold, woody, smokey and vinious, hop crunch more then respectable. Very tasty, heady brew, leaving a long lasting hop glow on the teath. Well done SP, another fine fine brew.

Flying in from Brooklyn,I missed it there, fortunately caught up with it on tap at Cole’s. Spot on DIPA, hits the bulleye with big hops and tasty stuff with orange citrus, apricot and peach notes. Great hop aroma. Light lace. High alcohol well hidden.

Poured into a snifter
A - Pours orange\amber with a thick foam that quickly disappates. Lacing is excellent.
S - Strong scent of pine. There is a slight smell of citrus. Would have liked a little more of that.
T - Has a pronounced hoppy front, as is the calssic "hop bomb" of many good DIPA's. The complimentary flavors of citrus are more noticeable in the taste than in the aroma.
M - About the smoothest DIPA I can recall. Clearly to me its defining quality. For such a big IPA in hoppiness and ABV it is very, smooth, light, and quite drinkable. Went perfectly with my Chinese food.
O - Gotta love Sixpoint. I'd add this to their list of very good beers.

I hope this is the correct beer. The menu simply said "Six Point Double IPA" and this is the only DIPA on here, so i will take those odds.
Had on cask.
Poured a dark brown/amber. Absolutely no head (insert bad joke here). Really rich smell, test mirrored accordingly. Incredibly robust, even for the style. I couldnt drink more than a bit at a time because I think it would have been too overwhelming. A hop-lovers dream. Not that balanced, but for some reason, i dont htink you will mind. It puts itself out there and says "here i am - take it or leave it."
A fine brew - not the best for the style. but certailny one worth drinking if you have the opportunity.

On tap @ the Blind Tiger 08-05-09
A- Pours a dark amber with a 2 finger fluffy head, low carbonation.
S- Citrus notes, some caramel hints
T- Sweet and malty with some hops mixed, more a malty DIPA than hoppy one
M- Medium bodied, DIPA, a little on the boozy side.
D- This DIPA was a little too malty for me, I like my DIPA's with more hops, which this was lacking, a little too sweet for my liking. I prefer their Bengal Tiger IPA to this one.

On tap, into a standard pint at J. Ryan’s in Syracuse, NY
Appearance (3.5): Thin film of off-white foam, leaving a ring on edge; could use more lacing, since I personally prefer a really bombastic head on my DIPAs but this is fine for on-tap. The body is bright gold with a slight haze, a plus in my book.
Smell (4.0): Hop profile comes through first with a bright orange and pineapple notes. Malts provide some moderate sweetness in the nose; overall, very nice. I like piney notes in this style, but this fits the bill, too.
Taste (5.0): Hops come through immediately as floral shifting to herbal, with citrus undercurrent—very nice! Lightly toasted pale malt is in back, supporting the hop profile. The slightly toasty malts complement the hops very well, actually. It’s got a long, bitter citrus finish—lemon all the way! A bit biscuity, and the yeast note feels German, if that’s possible. AWESOME! No alcohol presence whatsoever.
Mouthfeel (4.5): Very nice carb, uneven and long-lasting mix of prickliness and soft creaminess; dry finish, well above average. Very nice, actually.
Overall (4.5): Great, really enjoy this. Great hops, great American DIPA. This needs to see much more of the world, and if this ever comes out in cans I’m buying lots of it. Lots and lots of it. Sixpoint, you really brewed a winner here!

I had this on-tap at Max's. Poured into a sample glass.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy light amber with very little white head that goes away quickly.
Smell: Sweet and fruity with citrus hops. Mild for the style.
Taste: Better than the smell. Sweet with very bitter citrus hops from the start of each sip all the way through the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with mild carbonation and a dry finish.
Overall: A very nice DIPA. Balanced with a really pleasant hop profile. I would have another.

Thanks to sixpoint for the trade...
Appears a hazy amber with a small white head that fades into a mild cap and collar. Spottly lacing is left around the glass. Lots of sediment found it's way to the bottom of the glass.
Smell is of caramel, pine, orange, and brown sugar.
Taste is of sugary, piney, brown sugar, caramel, maple, and molasses. Very rich.
Mouthfeel is mediumb bodied, leaning towards caramel sweetness, though balanced with some citrusy hops. Some abv is noticeable but certainly not 10.6%.

Growler from Big Z Beverage; pours a cloudy orange amber color with a 1 finger foamy/bubbly off white head that faded very slowly leaving great lacing coating the glass. This brew leaves fantastic lacing, and after each pour the lacing kept sticking like the Christmas white foam that you spray on windows - crazy ass lacing that was really thick.
Smells of citrus hops, orange peel, grapefruit, mango or pineapple, piney hops, flowers, floral hops, sweet malt, brown sugar and spices that I can't make out due to the hop dominance; this is all hops in the nose, and quite potent. I found it really enjoyable.
Tastes of citrus hops, orange peel, grapefruit, mango, light lemon zest, pineapple, piney hops, flowers, floral hops, sweet malt, brown sugar, grass, hay and other earthy tones like wheat, coriander, light cinnamon and spices like pepper and cumin or allspice; some minor alcohol heat like rum or just the massive oily hop presence that leaves a resinous flavor. The back end of the swallow is sweet and malty, with some toasted grains and more spices coming through; the finish is like a pine cone or tree bark with some oily hop sweetness. There is some bite to this beer, which is just fine with me.
Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, and oily slick, which is surprising to me for a DIPA with this much heat; it has a medium body, light to average carbonation and a slightly bitter finish that's on the dry side, leaving a sweet, bordering cloying sweet taste coating the tongue, which has a crisp citrus pucker.
It's hoppy, it's malty, it's spicy and it's got heat, but it's quite tasty and surprisingly drinkable. A very enjoyable beer that went down easier than expected due to the ABV; this is definitely worth checking out. Brooklyn in the house!

Enjoyed this at Barcade last Saturday night after the Met game. It was their only cask and I've been meaning to try more Six Point when in the area so I went straight for a pint of this (only $4 before 8, good deal).
Poured a cloudy medium golden copper brownish and unremarkable head. Nose was hoppy and yeasty.
Thick, bold, hoppy taste with earth tones and a surprising breadiness. Very robust and malty for an IPA but the dry and bitter flavors were present as well. There is a hint of alcohol in the finish but overall it is remarkably hidden for a brew of this potency. Mouthfeel is smooth and slightly cloying.
Terrific example of the style and also at masking heavy alcohol tones which sometimes puts me off big beers. Highly recommended if you can find it.

On-tap 11/19/2011 at Track 84 in Warwick, RI, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short dense white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains fruity citrus, grassy hops and caramelized malts.
T: The taste starts out with a strong burst of piney hops bitterness. Then some fruity sweetness and caramel sweetness comes in. There’s also a touch of alcohol sting. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and creates a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, strong kick, good representation of style, there are better options for a 2IPA but it’s still a decent beer.
