V Righteous is a take on the Barrel-Aged Righteous we’re going to release nationwide this month. This is a small batch version, amped up to an eye-popping 12.3% ABV and sold in 6-packs, aged in Upstate Rye barrels from Finger Lakes Distilling, then dosed with a huge hit of Madagascar vanilla.

A: The beer is crystal clear dark amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige colored head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of whiskey and oaky vanilla are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell except that the rye whiskey also contributes some hints of spiciness and there are also some underlying notes of sherry. Except for the whiskey, no other alcohol is detectable. The rye is most noticeable in the finish.
M: It feels full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. The whiskey lends some warming to the mouthfeel.
O: This beer drinks rather well for something that is 12.3%. I really enjoyed the whiskey and vanilla in the aromas and flavors but it was nice to see the spiciness of the rye still poke through the other flavors.

Got in a trade with DEDesings. Pours a somewhat transparent ruby-cinnamon color with a thin ring of grey head.
The aroma is gorgeous. Warm vanilla notes meet red grape, werther's candy, belgian sugar, and bourbon heat. Can this be an air freshener? Holy shit. This is like the most beautiful beer I've ever smelled. Wow.
Flavor is huge with plum, caramel candy, grape sucker, warm vanilla frosting, boozy hotness, and cinnamon. Remnants of rye grain and whiskey fade out.
Feel is hot and cuts like a knife, yet retains a nice cleanliness throughout. Hot finish with lingering stickiness.
Overall, although I'm not whizzed by the can design (fucking wiccans) I like this beer a lot. It tastes nice and smells fantastic.

12 oz can poured into a nonic pint. canned on 3/22/18
A: Snall slightly off white head that settles to a film. Body is a rich caramel amber color with great clarity.
S: The vanilla and the rye pop off the cap in this beer. Mainly do not get any bourbon but the nose is very nice on this beer.
T: Wow, supple vanilla strikes your tongue backed by a crazy amount of rye to settle in the vanilla flavor and sweetness then another glow of vanilla on the end. Might be slightly boozy in the middle.
M: Lighter to medium bodied almost watery.
O: This beer is ridiculously delicious, it's delightful with the vanilla, rye, and sweetness. it's not overly complex but it is quite pleasing the palate.

Pours clear red amber with a creamy khaki colored foam head. Smells like spicy rye, toasted bready malt, dried fruits, melon, chocolate, vanilla, oak, char, whiskey, maple syrup, sweet citrus, some cherry, pitted stone fruit, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like spicy rye, toasted bready malt, dried fruits, melon, oak, char, chocolate, rich vanilla, smooth rye whiskey, maple syrup, sweet citrus, cherry, stone fruit, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium thick bodied, viscous and creamy, slick with moderate smooth carbonation. Overall a really nice and interesting barrel-aged rye ale with vanilla.

In the current craft beer scene that is mostly comprised of hazy IPAs and stouts loaded with adjuncts, this is a very unique beer. Released as part of the Sixpoint brewery only releases, this beer is exceptional. Super smooth taste and mouthfeel, although 12.3 abv, this goes down way too easy. I wouldn't have expected that this is a beer I would really like, but the beer is so well made it is easy to like this one.
The 12 ounce serving size is perfect and the can art is pretty amazing.
