Full blown dessert stout finishing at 12 plato. EXTREMEly thicc body on this one. Horchata Beans is the strongest, most full-bodied beer we’ve put out through our Small Batch program. The tiger nut addition represent the complex flavor of traditional Spanish Horchata, while the cinnamon brings the Mexican flavor into play. Once barrel-aged, the beer shows off waves of bourbon, coconut, cinnamon with a pure motor oil body.

Thanks to CanConPhilly for this one, from NBS BIF #9. Dumbass 12oz energy drink can poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid black color with just the thinnest cap of brown head that dissipated quickly and left no lacing.

The aroma was of a solid base Porter, some barrel, spices, and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Nearly identical on the tongue, the cinnamon was sharper, and the barrel (couldn't quite figure what had been in the barrel before, and the internet was no help in telling me what a tiger bean is) was not as noticeable as in the aroma.

The body was very full, certainly more in the stout area than the porter, was smooth, and had a bit of heat on the finish, both from the cinnamon and alcohol, and had a semi-sweet finish. Drinkability was fine, even though the beer was a bit busy on the palate. Reducing an ingredient (either by leaving something out, or by using less of each) would have helped a lot, making the beer more enjoyable overall. Still, worth a shot if you see it.

12 oz can poured into a teku

A- Black with a small mocha head

S- Chocolate, nutty, cinnamon, bourbon, some vanilla and coconut.

T- Bourbon, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, hazelnuts, a little nutty, touch of charred oak.

M- Smooth, medium to full body.

O- A very nice porter, huge flavor and surprisingly drinkable given the high ABV.

Tried this at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, CT. Came in a tulip glass with about a quarter inch of head leaving behind scant lacing. The color is dark cola and the aroma is boozy. The taste was boozy too, a little too much for my tastes. But I definitely finished it.

L - 1/2 finger mocha head atop a jet black body.

S - cinnamon, vanilla, bourbon, chocolate.

T - starts out with lots of cinnamon and vanilla, then the barrel kicks in. Somewhat boozy bourbon presence, but not overbearing. Hazelnut, bittersweet chocolate, molasses, char, a hint of dark fruit. Slightly metallic finish. Moderate-low bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. Moderate booziness.

F - medium body with minimal carb.

O - I wish this had a heavier “nut” presence, but damn this is a tasty monster.
