Look: Very deep red, verging on brown. Crystal clear apart from the darkness. A finger of off-white head.
Smell: Strong hop scent.
Taste: Hop-forward but not overpowering like an IPA. A bit of caramel malt character. Bitter.
Mouthfeel: Thick and creamy. Minimal carbonation.
Overall: While I’m not big on hoppy beers overall, this is a good example of a historic style that fits in well with the pub selling it.
