Aroma is spicy hops, tropical fruit and slightly yeasty bread. The flavor is citrus, earthy malts, mild tropical fruit and a spicy hop/creeping tipa alcoholic finish.

Pint copped on tap at Verona Inn. Pours a golden, effervescent hue with moderate frothing. Pungent aroma replete with notes of citrus and grapefruit. Similar overall flavor profile. Not bad.

 

 

I’m glad I picked this up, I haven’t bought Six Point in so long, and seeing this I was like “hmm I like the concept.” Very flavorful, actually unique flavors melding here, not your average IPA. Aroma is killer! Easy to quaff, very very berry juicy with deep sweet orange. More than worth your time, a really fresh surprise from SP.

Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy IIPA from Sixpoint! And this one is "globally hopped". Well, in my experience you can't put too many hops together but we'll see. It's definitely hazy, murky in fact. It's golden-tan in color beneath a full head of fine-bubbled white foam. The aroma is exactly as I'd expected it to be given that it's made from hops from "Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Germany, New Zealand, and Australia". It's a kind of a generic hop aroma, although fairly strong. It's floral, piney, herbal, and citrusy. Of course I should keep in mind that this is an older sample and it had to have smelled brighter and clearer fresh. Let's see if the taste is any better... well, no, not really, although it is juicier with an interesting note of cherry. But that's not to say that it doesn't taste good, because it tastes great, it's just that the hop character is a bit homogenous. I'll stick with what I noted for the aroma, and add that there's almost a mintiness to it, and some spiciness as well. For fruits, I originally thought it was mainly orange-like but there's a bit more there, with mango, red berry, peach, and a little bit of grapefruit. You know what, I take back the whole thing about it being homogenous. It is to some extent, and the hop notes aren't as clear as they are in some, but it's an interesting mix that's growing on me. A little bit of the alcohol comes through, which is surprising at just 8.8%, and it finishes dry and spicy with some minty herbs lingering. In the mouth it's smooth with a little bit of a zesty caress, and medium bodied. I could live with a few more of these. It's well balanced and rounded, and quite satiating.

it's ok and works reasonably for me but i can't say i love it. best by 3/18/21, consumed 1/11/21 so thanks to my local for getting it to me quick.
L: Drinking from the can. The can is cool.
S: floral. sweet citrus.
T: follows the nose. mango. the flavors are pretty muddled, due to all the hop varieties, i reckon. bit of lingering peppery bitterness on the finish.
F: smooth
O: it's ok but not a killer.

Served in a Tulip glass from the can.

Appearance: Hazy almost opaque body with medium bubbles. White head risk f half a singers length off the body.

Smell: citrus skin aroma, light floral with a smooth hop to the nostrils. Not super potent but lovable.

Taste: Smooth bitterness with heavy citrus juice. Bitter like a yellow grapefruit with hints of citra and loaded with heavy malt. Touch of sweetness like orange juice at the back of your mouth. Delicious.

Mouth: Medium soft carbonation with a sticky body. Not super sticky but overpowering after taste which cleans up perfectly after dinner.

Overall: Awesome pickup, might be one of my top Sixpoint beers I have had in a long time that is new to the library. Grab if you can. Salud!

There were some bits of something floating in the bottom. Not sure if that is normal or not. Nice color and cloudy like you would expect. It had a good taste but not a very big taste. I was hoping for more quite frankly.

 

 

A - Opaque medium golden orange color with soapy white lacing.

S - Tropical fruit, mango, citrus, and grapefruit aroma.

T - Tropical fruit, mango, some berry, peach, passion fruit, lychee fruit, and some slight peppery earth. Everything blends but the Nelson seems to be a little stronger than the others.

M - Big medium body with some chewiness.

O - This is an easy drinking Northeast style D-IPA. The Nelson Sauvin is a little polarizing, either you like it or you don't.

 

Murky and opaque, as advertised. Decent head production, retention, and lacing. Slightly dark hue to the body.

Hoppy nose, juicy and brightly herbal. Pepper, cracker, orange, tangerine, melon, pineapple, flowers.

Similar on the palate, very bright and juicy up front. Strong enough malt base to add some sweetness. Juicier and juicier throughout the sip, until it's virtually papaya and grapefruit juice mixed together.

A bit thin on the mouthfeel despite the high ABV. Very smooth and drinkable.

12oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $2.99. Canned on Julian Date 20262 (9/19/20), so this is 9 1/2 weeks old. Can says "Best By Mar 18 21".

Look: Super juicy and hazy looking. The color is a bit darker compared to a lot of other Hazy IIPAs. This one has like an unfiltered peach juice or peach smoothie look to it. It is almost completely opaque. The head quickly dissipated to essentially nothing. Not the prettiest looking beer, but let's not judge a beer by its appearance.

Smell: A lot of complexity in the aroma. The challenge is to pick out some notes from all that is going on. There are a lot of dank notes here and there are also a lot of juicy, tropical and stone fruit notes. And underneath, there are these more subtle, sweet perfumes. Up front, I get green bell pepper and a bit of juicy acidity. Juicy, fruity notes of fleshy peach, cherry, and white grape. On the back end, there is this really nice sweet perfumy note that I cannot place. Now there is something that reminds me of cherry hard candy...think Luden's cough drops. Even cherry Twizzlers. If you wanted to summaraize and simplify the nose, I would say "fruit punch".

Taste: Pretty much follows the nose. Considering that this is 8.8% ABV, it is quite drinkable and the bitterness is quite low for such a hoppy beer. Up front, it's super juicy and aromatic - lots of citrus, stone, and tropical fruit including grapefruit, peach, and guava. What I like a lot about this beer is that up front that juiciness has a lot of lively acidity, which totally offsets the sweetness that would otherwise dominate. The finish is a gentle grapefruit pithy bitterness that gradually fades away in the distance. Some of the green bell pepper flavor also comes off in the finish.

Feel: Lively carbonation is helpful with this beer. The mouthfeel on this beer is medium-bodied. It's soft and a bit creamy, but not like some other pillowy hazies that I have had.

Overall: This is a very impressive, well-made hazy IIPA. It is highly drinkable and hides the 8.8% ABV extremely well. Some may want to knock it because it can't compete with some of the other pillowy mouthfeel hazies out there. But I would say that the mouthfeel for this beer is appropriate and the aromas and flavors are really cohesive with this beer. This beer kind of reminds me a bit of a more complex, bigger version of one of my favorite beers - Peak Organic's The Juice Hazy Pale Ale. Maybe it's the acidity and azzaca hops that they have in common?
