Idaho-7 and Azacca hops are a foundation of this beer, but the real stars of this show are the immensely tropical flavors of guava and passionfruit. Mix in a soft and silky grain bill of oat and wheat and just a touch of lactose, and Hyper Beam at 8.0% ABV will make you bend the elements of time and space. Suddenly you’re sipping seaside on a sunny beach.

For all you die-hard Sixpoint fans out there, this is a totally different beer from our original release of Hyper Beam as a sour in 2019. This time we dropped the sour, but kept the HUGE aroma and fruit flavor of passionfruit and guava.

Hazy, orange color. Thin, white head that quickly disappeared. Very pleasant aroma of guava and passion fruit mixed with lactose. Moderately sour taste with a hint of hoppy bitterness. Tasty.

12 oz skinny can, best by Jan 12 2022, into GITM Fatty.

Hazy but not juicy blonde, creamy 2 finger head, pretty stable, leaves a little lacing behind.

Aroma is full of pears, with some hints of Fruity Stripe gum and some banana. Slight fruit cocktail.

Flavor is like the gum from a gumball. Watery fruit cocktail with an emphasis on cherries. Not powerful, not revelatory, but easy and fun. If it weren't for the alcohol this would be a great poolside beer.

Feel is juicy like fruit cocktail would be but has a hard water problem and does not stay soft. Alcohol is well hidden though. Clay-like. Biting finish.

Overall, a can of fun. Nothing offensive, the IBUs are pretty low, though once again I think Sixpoint is telling lies on their cans, as there is no way this is 7 IBU. Around 30 maybe. This misleading junk (same thing happened on Smoothie) will keep me from buying Sixpoint in the future (unless they re-release 3Beans). They've become a macro brewer now, pretty disappointing.

This beer isn't too bad though. Good for those who highly dislike bitter IPAs.

5th review. Love the brewer, but this is too fruity and perfumey for me. Give me beer.
Hard to fault as it's highly original but I feel that I stepped into my mom's closet.
a) Pours hazed body w/ lax head and lace.
s) Boudoir.
t) Fruit salad, some artificial gummies, not a bite in sight.
f) Creamy.
o) Another over-cooked.

Best By Date: 01-12-22

A - Medium hazy gold color with a dense two fingered bright white layer of foam resting on top that looks more like cream. Carbonation is slow and steady.

S - Vibrant guava and passionfruit slam the nose on the first sniff along with alot of juicy fruit pectin.

T - Follows the nose with all guava and passionfruit dominating the palate from start to finish. After the sip there's a little bit of sweet malt trying to surface but gets covered up again with a lingering guava and passionfruit "pulpy pectin" flavor. At different points during the sip some of the 8% ABV pokes through and lingers in the background.

M - Thick and full bodied with a soft texture and wet finish.

O - This is really solid and priced really well, definitely worth the $12.99/sixer price and worth a try.

Look: Pours a golden, slightly orange shade of yellow with a two finger off white head of foam that laces the glass very well. Opaque.

Aroma: Passionfruit is the first thing that jumps out at you. It's slightly tart with notes of orange juice, grapefruit rind and of course, guava.

Taste: Very tropical. Moderately tart passionfruit and guava hits you immediately off the rip - it's assertive but still refreshing and not cloying. The initial tropical flavors are followed by sweet notes of orange marmalade and apricot/pineapple jam. It's rounded out on the finish with slightly dry/spicy notes of apricot pomace and minty/floral hops.

Feel: Light for the style, yet I wouldn't call it watery or thin. Mid-light body with low carbonation. Strange feel to the brew in my opinion.

Overall: This is a nice change of pace from sixpoint. I like the guava and passionfruit aspect of it but the minty/floral thing going on at the end of the flavor profile comes off as a little strange, and the body is a little thin for my liking. Nothing too special here but certainly an interesting imperial IPA.

Pours hazy yellow with a thick white head. Aroma is mild citrus and hop floral. Taste follows, though there's not much flavor in there. It's balanced but light. Feel is similar, not much body. Not bad, but kinda thin. Overall it's very drinkable but not special.

Served in a teku glass from the can.

Appearance: hazy gold amber color with a full body-colored head.

Taste: sweet most like ice cream mixed with vanilla and doses of half and half, malt to go with and hints of wake cane sugar.

Mouth: sticky body. Which comes off like a donut sweet.

Overall: Good brew which I would not change the outcome no matter what the outcome of the style of toilet paper I'm used to wipe my ass. Milkshake with a touch of malt. Heavy fruit, slightly tarty yet worth grabbing.
