A lush, juicy burst of tart raspberry blitzes the tastebuds –like an ELECTRIC BLAST OF BERRY FLAVOR and aroma! In Super Raspy, loads of raspberries and a touch of milk sugar have their powers combined for a mouthwatering, super tasty brew.

There's only a hint of a red raspberry color in the beer, now in a clear glass liter mug. There's less in the head, which is almost stark white, on the foamy side and enduring. It does retreat without any glass lacing. Now, the pint can has been emptied. The mostly amber beverage is bright and fairly translucent. The aroma is of sour/tart raspberry, for sure. This is a sour that doesn't drink sour. It's tart and it's beery, with the raspberry aspect adding only a mild layer, rather than being a dominant contribution to the overall taste. That mitigates the sweetness, so it’s not a bad thing. The mouthfeel is a little light, but not too light for this style. The most commendable attribute of this brew is the cleanly absence of the taste of alcohol. This may not be for a true beer lover, but it's so much better than its closest alternative, flavored hard seltzers.

Sixpoint Brewery "Super Raspy"
16 fl. oz. can "BEST BY DEC 8 22" and sampled on SEP 11 22
$4.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: This is the Super Raspy with raspberry but there's also a Super Key Lime Raspy, is there a regular Raspy, or does raspy just refer to the sourness? I don't know. Raspy actually refers to sound but if they're using it to refer to acidity I totally understand that. It's a mostly clear golden-pink in color beneath a short head of white that drops readily. That's common for sour beers so I don't see that as a defect. In the nose I'm getting raspberry and minerals over a light maltiness. The taste screams raspberry (hehe, I'm using a verb that means producing a sound to describe intensity). It's tart like an actual sweet raspberry, and perhaps maybe even less tart. The malt is sweetish and bready but not overdone, and it's only lightly mineralish. If there's an argument to be made against it it's that it's kind of one-sided but that's generally the case with sour and fruity beers because you can't really get around it. You have two main notes that you're working with and you don't want to muddle them. I've tasted hoppy sours where that third component has worked out great but it does often take away somewhat from the two main notes and it's hard to get the balance right. It's not that bitter but the acidity dries it and it finishes fruity and lightly mineralish and malty. It's medium bodied and gently crisp. In the end this is a very entertaining and refreshing fruity sour that pretty much works year 'round.
