A FLURRY OF ORANGE AND CITRUS AROMAS shriek from the can in Screamsickle, our 8.0% Orange and Vanilla Hazy DIPA. Cascade, Citra and Amarillo hops complement the citrus while a dash of vanilla balances it out for the perfect hazy to beat back the cold weather. It’ll have ya screamin’ for more!

Screamsickle from Sixpoint Brewing. 16 oz can. Purchased from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA on 09/02/23 for $3.50 (Including tax) - $ 0.219/oz. In reefer at store, stored at 34 degrees at home. Reviewed 20/02/23 (Review 3045). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Stamped on bottom of can “BEST BY MAR 15 23 “. Served at 47.6 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 54.1 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), opaque. Under direct light, dirty gold. When rear lite, translucent, and gold.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour), white, high density, receding to an undulating 0.5 – 0.7 cm crown, and a rocky partial cap.
Lacing – Fair. A broken narrow band of tiny to small bubbles is connected to the crown by thin columns. A few small islands are hanging on the glass.
Aroma – 3.25 – Weak citrus but not specifically orange. No malt, no hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.25 – Weak generic citrus, slightly sweet. Just a touch of malt, no yeast. No vanilla, but then I can rarely taste it even if it’s there. No ethanol (8.0 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Weak gastric warming begins. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends slightly dry and bitter with a dusty mouthfeel.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 A slightly hazy DIPA, not a citrus NEIPA. Orange flavor/aroma are gone, leaving a slightly musty generic citrus presence. Not even close to the Dreamsickle from which its name is derived. Not bad, just not what I was expecting.

No mysteries with Screamsickle. Orange and vanilla--especially orange--fill the air upon opening. Deep gold to amber pour, fairly hazy with a bubbly white cap. Flavor is pretty nicely balanced between citrus bite and vanilla mellow, so neither side overwhelms. Could have been lactose sweet, but the balance makes this refreshing and very true to its name.

Pours a hazy orange. Thin foam. Hoppy aroma. Big orange juice body. Citrusy and bitter. Slightly sweet finish. Could be more vanilla. Worth a try.

Tall can from the new SP location in downtown BKLYN..."BEST BY MAR 15 23' stamped on the bottom.

Pours medium hazed with a brown/orangey hue, looser and lasting tan cap, leaving loose fine bubble fields and bars and strands of thicker lacing....nice looking lacing going on here.

Honey, caramel, vanilla and some light orange notes on the sniff.

Tasty and fairly complex brew, with plenty of sweet caramel, vanilla and muted citrus on the palate...just a bit better then middle of the road NEIPA and in Brooklyn the competition is pretty stout....(neighbors include Other half, Finback, KCBC and a heard of worthy others!)

Worth a try.

On tap at the Roosevelt Tavern in York PA. Pours a hazy amber-gold-honey color with a thin off-white head. Initial impression is juicy pine, orange rind, caramel, citrus, and vanilla. Mouthfeel is soft and quite smooth. Finish fades toa malty sweetness. Overall, quite drinkable and very enjoyable.

From the bottom of the can: "BEST BY MAR 15 23 DTW 22258 1605 FL"

Appearance: The body is somewhat hazy and a sun tea orange color. It has a short white head that fizzes as the cap fades and rebuilds itself rapidly. It doesn't have much retention but it leaves large bubbles of lacing which look pretty cool.

Aroma: There is a bit of lemon and a somewhat stronger pine aroma. A bit of a candied orange peel aroma comes through with a very, very light touch of caramel that is barely noticeable. The aroma might sound complex but it is just barely there as a whole.

Taste: A very strong caramel flavor comes through with vanilla. It tastes like one of those rectangle caramel chews from Halloween. There is some grapefruit that pops in on the center of the palate, and that grapefruit gets much stronger with every sip if there is no palate cleanser. Towards the back of the mouth there is some grapefruit pulp and orange pith with a bit of candied orange peel. The beer definitely takes a bitter turn towards the back of the mouth and it does a good job of cleaning up some of the sweeter caramel flavors.

Mouthfeel: It is light bodied and it has a strong citrus bitterness at the end. It drinks well.

Overall: The can states that this is a "HAZY DIPA WITH ORANGE AND VANILLA." It definitely drinks more like a traditional Double IPA that happens to be hazy, and not the New England IPA that it is listed as here. The beer does have some orange character but it comes across more as candied orange peel. Grapefruit flavor is also very prominent which might be a product of the hops or the orange and the hops. The vanilla is definitely present. The beer is called "SCREAMSICKLE" which somewhat indicates that they were going for a dreamsicle flavor and this really didn't match up with that. The vanilla definitely amplified the caramel flavors a lot and it does have a Halloween vibe but I wouldn't want this on a hot summer day when I might want a popsicle. As a whole I did like it and I would recommend it to people who enjoy caramel candy, but not to those who enjoy dreamsicles.

Poured an opaque orange color into a Samuel Smith Imperial pint glass from a 16 oz. can, (Best by Mar 16 23), with a 2 fingers high frothy off white foam head, loads of fine lacing and visible carbonation. Nose is as described on can, light orange and vanilla forward with slight grapefruit hop and malt aromas present. Taste is same as aroma, orange/vanilla up front with a slightly bitter sweet dry finish. Mouth is medium in body, (a little syrupy), with a carbonation tingle on the tongue. A very drinkable brew for me but may not necessarily be for hop heads.

Pours a hazy honey gold with a finger plus of rocky head that slowly settles to a thin cap with some lacing. Aroma of orange with traces of vanilla. Taste follows nose. Creamy, very enjoyable.

A - Hazy medium golden orange color with perfect cascading bubble and a dense, one fingered dense layer of foam.

S - Light orange and vanilla on the nose with a little bit of malt presence in the background.

T - Resiny orange with underlying vanilla over top of light malt presence and grapefruit and apricot buried below. Ends with a moderate citrus bitterness and resiny, candied orange.

M - Thick body with light prickly carbonation on the tongue, finishes really dry.

O - The orange seems a little too artificial. Overall, this beer is as advertised on the can, that's for sure!

I don’t smell nor taste any vanilla or orange. This beer is bitterness and malt that’s it. Overall a disappointment.
