On-tap 7/28/2012 at Track 84 in Warwick, RI, served in tulip glass.

A: The beer is a medium brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, maple and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste starts with a hearty malt character followed by a mild maple and caramel sweetness. Then a strong hops presence comes in to create a nice balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, good kick, nice hoppy representation of style, this is a very solid beer to drink for a long time.

So this was served in a snifter at the armsby abbey. Told this was an imperial brown ale.

A - Pours a very murky brownish muddy coffee hue with lots of effervescence and a thinnish half a finger mocha head that looks very dense and creamy. The beer itself looks unappetizing but the head looks awesome. Great retention too!

S - Aromas of almost surprisingly sweet malts with light roast qualities. Very slight coffee notes and faint toffee.

T - Similar to the nose with nice slightly bitter roast and sweet malts. There are some slight metallic tastes but the finish is surprisingly hoppy and bitter. I was expecting it to be more sweet but this finishes almost like a black ipa.

M - Mouthfeel isn't bad lots of bright carbonation with a ssurprisingly bitter finish. Again this is more like a black ipa than anything.

O - Overall this was an enjoyable beer...not sure if this is really an imperial brown but its still good.
