So apperently, the rumors of this place closing were indeed true.
I arrived at the airport (a whole 3 miles from my house), to ready myself for a short but nerverwrecking nonetheless flight to Raleigh, NC for my cousin's wedding. I was really looking forward to having a beer or two before I departed, as I cannot stand to fly.
Arriving in the main Delta terminal, I noticed signs with the Shipyard logo saying "c'mon in, we're open," and I admit, I got a little excited. When I got to the previous location of the brewport pub, I noticed that there were walls up and a small kiosk infront of them. A line stretched about 15-20 people deep for the kiosk, and I figured that they must be renovating the restaurant and they moved the bar out front. I was wrong.
After waiting on line for about 10 minutes, I got to the front and noticed not a single Shipyard beer in sight. I asked the fellow behind the counter if they still served Shipyard and he said that they were in the process of changing ownership and Shipyard was no longer available. They did, however, have a fine selection from BMC and some imports like the ever-popular Heineken and Amstel Light. Dejected, I said no thank you and walked away to grab a hot dog at Nathans.
Needless to say, I was upset, but I wonder what will open there soon.
{edit} Turns out that the new "bar" I was told about was actually an Outback steakhouse...bah.

Stopped here on my way to Wolfy's wedding in Birmingham, AL. Located down by the Delta Terminal of the Orlando Airport. Lots of open booths and a octagon shaped bar. They had only a few beers to choose from The Light, Export and Old Thumper. They also carried bud, miller and coors light taps. When I asked if they had any specials or the Stout available, the lady said she has the Old Thumper, it's a dark heavy, Extra Special Ale. Ok whatever, give me a Thumper I say. It was fine $4.00 for a pint. The Bartender lady also had an annoying habit of singing along with the canned music. Hmmmm. The clam chowder seemed straight out of a campbells can. Cold in the middle and hot on the edges. Served in a plastic bowl. A bit overpriced, but if you need a beer at airport, it's not bad. Compared to a real brewpub it doesn't compare. I would save my money for the toll roads and head south to Gatorland a real Florida attraction.

This was a pleasant surprise upon landing in Orlando (although we didn't actually stop until the return trip), especially after thinking this place was closed. Billed as "The world's first airport microbrewery!".
Other than tailgating, waiting for an airplane is about the only thing that justifies drinking beer at 9AM. This bar is located in the Delta section of the Orlando airport in the 60-99 terminal. Being an airport, it is loud and everyone at the bar was smoking. Luckily there are a lot of tables away from the bar itself. Another pleasant surprise was that they offer a 4-beer sampler for around $6 (5oz. samples). You can try the Goat Island Light, Old Thumper, Export Ale and their current seasonal (I had the Winter Ale).
The bad news is the bartender informed me they may not be there much longer. When the contract is up there is a good chance something else will move into their location. Overall the beers were slightly above average, and they also stock the usual macros. I was happy that someone else who started with a macro tried the sampler after seeing my wife and I order one. Worth checking out on your trip to Orlando!

This is a good excuse to try a few brews while waiting for a plane.. but not impressive overall. The food ws not bad . I had the chicken nachos and the beer is average brew pub stuff (See my reviews). The turn offs are not very good service, and the big problem.. this area is the only place people can smoke in the entire terminal. As a result, you will be surrounded by people who just want to smoke!! People crowd around the bar area and one out of 3 people order a beer. It was bad enough that I broke down and got my second beer in plastic (ouch) and walked back into the terminal to enjoy it smoke free. So my feelings are mixed.. get a beer and fo enjoy it .. but don't expect atmosphere or good air quality..

Great beer for your airport bar. (16 oz or 20 oz for a dollar more, or double shot for a dollar more). Average service, bar tender could of care less that we were from new england and support shipyard. Food was better than the other airport food. A good place for a beer and a sandwich while your waiting for that flight.
