At the June 6 release at the brewery restaurant, the brewer calls this Rain Shadow C.D.A-- "Cascadian Dark Ale." It's nearly black in the pint shaker with a brown edge. Modest foam but plenty of carbonation.
There is some malty body and a hint of sweetness with a wintergreen note. The acidity creeps up after a couple of sips. Then it's just the total bitter hops. I mean, it's insanely bitter without much of any aromatics. It's the kind of bitterness that makes you salivate involuntarily. I tried, but found it totally undrinkable. Bleak and black burnt malt doesn't help it any. A surprising miss for an excellent brewery.
