Commercial description:
Mai Oh Maibock - This golden seasonal version of the classic bock style is malty with a delicate hop character from German Perle and American Tradition varieties. Named in honor of Mariners announcer Dave Niehaus' classic exclamation.
OG 1.070 6.5% ABV 30 IBU
Review:
Guest tap at Flyers.
A: Golden-bronze, slightly off-white head, very little retention, good lace.
S: Herbal/mineral aroma with grass & hints of spice (nice hop nose); slightly bready.
T: Bready, slight caramel, herbal spicyness, good bitterness, some residual sugar. Although the hop flavour & bitterness is well-done, the American malt mix doesn't quite stand up to that of the Fatherland.
M: Moderate to full body is creamy; some residual sugar ; moderate carbonation.
D: More residual sugar than its Deutch counterpart.
