Nitro-tap at Brouwers in Seattle.

Pours a very clear yellow hue, in fact it tends to colourless. Fine white head. Decent rings of lace as the beer subsides. Very light body. Looks extremely mild, but not offensive.

Nose is tending that way, however. So mild that it's almost offensive: slight bready characters, and a hint of carbonic acidity. The only thing that lifts it is a light dill-like spice. Eh. Very, very eh.

Taste is similarly empty and light. However, it has a cleanness which is pleasant enough. Finish is slightly earth on the back, and also contains a hint of rubber and biting vegetation. It's slightly better than the aroma, but only slightly. Feel is empty, but light and smooth enough. I guess a bit of a disappointment given that it's on nitro.

"Eh" seems to sum up this beer. It's drinkable enough. It's not very interesting, but worthy of trying once at least.

I look for cleanliness in a cream ale and aside from its visual appearance, didn't find much of it here. The Honey Cream is notably clear in pale yellow with light suds. It imparts a dour, yeasted aroma and taste with bitterness that translates as more tart than targeted. The result is a beer that is neither dynamic nor artfully modest and can't service any would-be crossover function. Pass.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clean, clear light gold color with a just over an inch of bright white head that had medium-low retention and left a bit more than minimal lacing.

The aroma was mostly malty-sweet, with just a hint of hops blended in. There was a "sticky", for lack of a better term, scent I couldn't place. The flavor was basically the aroma magnified. The malt flavors were well balanced and not overly sweet. The judicious use of the hops added just enough of a counterpoint to keep this beer from being too sweet.

The body is just a little fuller than is typical for the style, which I like. Drinkabilty is very good, the beer is smooth, refreshing and clean. Overall, a solid beer that's worth a shot if you see it.
