Rich deep colour. Almost like a clean cinnamon copper. Nice fuzzy off-tan head that shows decent retention.
Nose is a sweet blush up front, caramel malts and a bit toasty, with a harder rye-like edge.
Flavour carries a similar profile, with a lot of earthy/spicy hops, toasted malts, and a touch of sweetness that starts off kind of in the caramel/toffee range, but then thins out as it warms and recedes to just kind of being present on the edge of the hops.
Dull earthy/spicy bitterness lingers for a bit. The carbonation is very fine-toothed, and plays off of the spiciness from the hops. Medium bodied, but with an almost cloying build to the the aftertaste that is almost sickly sweet and triggers the back of the tongue?
Overall it's enjoyable, but that last note I mention certainly slows me down and can be a little much.
