Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clean, but lightly hazy, bronzed gold color with (sadly, it cost them a half-point) only the thinnest cap of white head that had no retention and light lacing.
I actually said "WOW" out loud at my first whiff of this brew. A solid, but not overpowering, scent of Rye comes across. The basic malts provided a nice base and there was just the right amount of tangy hops to provide a good counter-balance. I actually said "WOW" out loud again at my first sip of this beer. A great blend of flavors. The Rye is in the forefront, but malts and hops balance everything out very nicely indeed.
The body was fairly typical for an APA, medium, crisp, clean and the Rye left a nice little tingle at the back of the tongue. Drinkability was crazy good, if I didn't have to go to work, I'd sit and drink these puppies the rest of the day. Overall, a very nice brew. A must try if you see it, and most worthy of a road trip up to the brewery to get this. No lie, a growler won't last long, better get 9.
